Double Win for Haiths in 1st Round of Silkolene Shorttrackuk Club Championship.

Sunny Scunthorpe hosted Round 1 of the first ever Shorttrack UK Club Championship on Sunday 27th. There was a great turn out of riders, 68 in total enjoyed the new classes which produced some very close racing, including a win for David Haith in the Pro National Class and a hard faught win for his son Josh in the Inter Youth class, ahead of his mate Oliver Brindley. Other Class winners were Mark Richardson - Mini Bikes, Skye Adams - Juniors, Tom Neave - Youth, Steve Coles - Thunderbikes and Anthony Brown - Restricted.

COOL COLLINS WINS BRAINTREE

Aidan Collins took a fantastic win in the Grand Final of the Braintree Bonanza in what can only be called some of the toughest handle bar to handle bar racing you will ever see!
The 32 riders went through 3 heat races each with the top 16 points scores progressing the the Semi's.

Semi one saw Team Suzuki rider Peter Boast on Pole, next to 3 times World Speedway Champion Jason Crump and Derek Brindley rounding out the front row. The semi was run three times, the first stoppage was for Steve Plater who took a big highside coming out on the start and finish, the second stoppage was when Darren Trapmore and Glyn Pocklington came together and when the final flag droped in the 3rd rerun, it was a win to Crumpie from Boast with Pocklington taking the last transfer spot.
Semi 2 was a real cracker as Ben Baker took the hole shot but he was hounded by Ade Collins and last years winner Eddy Kennett. Lap after lap Kennett and Collins were trying everything to get past Baker, sometimes going three abreast down the back straight but the young 18 year old Ben held on to the win from Kennett and Collins.

The 12 lap Grand Final lined up with 10 riders - Crump, Baker, Boast and Kennett on the Front row, second row Collins and Pocklington, third row Jacopo Monti, Daz Trapmore, Ben Wells and Road race star Sam Lowes.
When lights went green it was Crump who hole shotted but by the time they came out of the bend Baker and Kennett had got inside of Crump and by the end of the first lap it was Baker, Kennett, Crump, Collins, Boast and Pocklington rounded the top six. On lap 3 Collins and Boast got by Crumpie on turns 1 and 2. On lap 4 Collins made a move past Kennett. As the laps wound down Collins was hounding Baker for first place, Kennett dropped back two bike lenghts and was coming under pressure from Boastie. On lap 10 Aidan Collins seized his chance and just squeezed past Baker. Ben gave it his best shot to re pass Collins but just didn't quite make it and Collins took the chequerd flag for Grand Final of the Braintree Bonanza. He was presented with the trophy by his Team Boss Neil Tuxworth of HMPlant Honda, with a great second for Ben Baker and Eddy Kennett taking last spot on the podium.

Jack Cornes takes his first Junior win

Jack Cornes rode his new CRF 150 DTX bike to overall victory in the junior class, taking three wins out of 4 races with second place rider Tom Neave taking victory in heat 3. Going into the double points race it was tight on points for third spot with Flynn Scott, Oliver Brindley, Loris Hunt and Aaron Silvester but there was a good last ride from Oliver to claim 3rd spot.

Mini Bike Champion Mark Richardson won the Mini Bikes in a Class with the most tough and wild racing you will ever see! Going into the last Double points race there were three different heat race winners - Mark, Darren Rolf and Steve Baldock with any three of them in for shout of winning the oval result. Mark made no mistakes this time and took the win from Rolfie and Steve Baldock, giving him the overall win.

POZZANI SILKOLENE SHORTTRACK UK ROUND 5 2010

COLLINS TAKES THIRD WIN AT BUXTON

Ade Collins takes a comanding lead in Pozzani Silkolne Shorttrackuk championship with a fine win in Round 5 of the championship.
Ade was in fantastic form and sailed through the heat races and semi finals, giving him pole for the Grand Final. Next to Ade was 17 year old Ben Baker who won Semi 2, with the previous round's winner Italian Jacopo Monti and CCM works rider Tom Woolley rounded out the front row of 12 rider final.
Collins holeshotted the H M Plant Honda with Monti hard on his tail. The dusty, hard packed track made it difficult to pick the rest of the riders out as they completed the first lap. By lap 4 Collins still had the lead from Monti, who was closely followed by Woolley with 4th taken by Darren Trapmore on the Kinrade Honda , but lap 5 saw Richard Mason take a heavy fall down on turn 3 which brought out the red flags.
The restart was a line out and once again Collins did not make a mistake and lead the pack. There was a challenge for 3rd with Trapmore getting the better of Woolley followed by Marco Belli, Ben Baker and Glyn Pocklington banging handle bars.
With 3 laps left Collins was begining to pull away from Monti, Tom Woolley had re past Trapmore and the mid- pack was still a freight train of riders wheel to wheel battling in a dust cloud.
Ade Collins continued his perfect ride and took his 3rd Grand Final win of the season, second was Monti and a well deserved 3rd went to 16 year old Tom Woolley.

MARVELLOUS MONTI

round 4 2010

Jacopo Monti was in outstanding form to win Round 4 of Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrackuk at Stoke Speedway Stadium on Saturday. The Italian Monti who made the long trip to Stoke from his home town of Tradate in Italy was in blistering form. He won his heat races and Semi final to put himself on pole for the Grand Final. The winner of the other Semi and Championship leader Ade collins was next to him. Also on the front row were last year's champ Peter Boast and 3 times UK Champ Marco Belli.
It was Monti who made the hole shot from Collins and Boast, with Belli 4th and 16 year Tom Woolley in 5th. The pack went past to complete lap one but by lap two the red flags came out as Richard "magic"Mason had one of his less magic moments and highsided coming out of turn 4 and took a couple of other riders out. A restart took place and once again Monti made no mistake by getting the hole shot but this time Collins was pushing Monti hard for the lead. By lap 2 Belli had got the better of Boastie and 5th and 6th spots were taken up by the young guns of Ben Baker and Tom Woolley.
By lap 6 Monti and Collins had left the pack with Collins putting pressure on Monti and back in third Boast was putting force on Belli, Woolley had got past Barker and Darren Trapmore moved up to 7th spot. As the laps wound down Jacopo Monti began to ease away from Collins and the battle for third had become a three way dice with Belli, Boast and now Tom Woolley was pressuring the pair.
Jacopo Monti made no mistakes and took the chequered flag for his first UK Championship win from H M Plant Honda rider Aidan Collins, with Marco Belli hanging on to 3rd for the last spot on the podium.

REDMAX THUNDERBIKE FINAL RESULT

Jacopo Monti took top honours in the Redmax Thunderbikes Final. The Action was in the battle for second and third spots with Steve Coles holding second spot for most of the final but it was "Captain Highside" John Lee who worked hard to pass Colesy to take 2nd. Rich May had good ride on the big CCM twin to pick 4th spot.

The Arrow Engineering Junior races were dominated by Tim Neave's 4 starts and 4 wins ! The battle for second spot was a lot closer with Loris Hunt and Oliver Brindley and it was Oliver who just got second spot holding Loris off in the double points race.There was a full entry of Junior riders and it was great to see all the them riding well and producing some great racing, well done to them all.

It was a suprise to see Jacopo Monti out on a Mini Bike but he proved what a great rider he is by adapting to jumping off a big thunderbike, then going out in the next heat on a 150 mini bike and winning! Second spot went to Mark Richardson and good third to Jaye Carpmail.

MARCO BACK TO HIS WINNING WAYS

round 3 2010

Round 3 Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack at Amman Valley, Wales.
Marco Belli gave the Italian Zaeta machine it's first win on English soil, by winning Round 3 of the Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack Championship. Three times Champion Marco said 'This is one of the best wins I've ever had, the final wash as tough as it gets. The 1/2 mile lime stone track was so demanding and the best riders in Europe were all in the Final. I'm so happy!'
In the Grand Final Aidan Collins got the hole Shot on his HM Plant Honda and lead the first lap, but then Marco took the lead on the second lap. Behind them it was 16 year old Tom Woolley 3rd, another Italian Jacopo Monti 4th, then American Levi Mayer 5th and the previous days' Mefo Cup winner Richard Mason rounding out the top 6.
Places were changing every lap and the rider most on the move was Jacopo Monti - on lap 6 he passed Collins and was in second closing on Belli. Woolley and Mason were battling for 4th and 5th, speedway star Kennett and Peter Boast had overhauled Levi Mayer.
As the laps wound down Belli was still under pressure from Monti and Collins, Mason had got clear of Woolley for 4th spot, Boastie was pulling in Kennett and just behined him was Darren Trapmore on the Kinrade Honda.
On the last lap Monti tried making a move on Belli and ran wide, leaving room for Collins to slip past but it was Marco who crossed the line on the back wheel for first place, from Collins and Monti holding on to last podium spot.

Wheelie good win for Jacopo

Jacopo Monti dominated the Thunderbike Final and even had enough of a margin to wheelie to the crowd on the last few laps. Jan Willam-Janson ran home in second spot but he had is work cut out to come from 4th,Wayne Drake and local hero Guto Lleweyln battled with Jan for 6 of the 8 lap final. The last 2 laps saw Scooter Farm rider John Lee push hard and just nick last spot on the Podium with a fine pass on Guto to get 3rd well done John.

NO STOPPING COLLINS
round 2 2010.

Aidan Collins took maxium points after another Grand Final win in round 2 of the Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack Championship at the Peterborough Showground. Ade lead after a brave move around the outside of Tom Woolley on the first lap, taking control of the race and holding 6 bikes length lead from Woolley and Daz Trapmore on the Kinrade Honda. On lap 2 Jacopo Monti on the big Harley Rotax moved into third spot, moving Trapmore down to 4th and there was a freight train of riders swapping places down to 8th place. On lap 3 Monti got past Woolley and started to look like he might catch Collins but Woolley had not given in and by lap 8 was trying to pass Monti again but in turn there were another 6 riders wheel to wheel behind him, rubbing tyres on each other's swinging arms trying to make passes on the tight blue grooved track.
By lap 11 Collins was safely on his way to his second Grand Final win. Jacopo Monti was having to battle hard to hold on to his second spot from Tom Woolley, Trapmore, Pete Boast, Marco Belli, Richard Mason and Geoff Baldock. Collins took the flag and the flamboyant Italian Jacopo Monti held 2nd from works CCM rider Tom Woolley who took the third spot on the rostrum.

The Redmax Thunderbike Final was a one horse race with Jacopo Monti being that horse. He really was in control of the race from the first corner, even finding time to pull wheelies for the crowd. John Lee on the 710 Honda held a fine 2nd spot and the battle for third was between Steve Coles on the 600 Bros Honda and Wayne Drake on a 600 Rotax. Wayne tried every move in the book to pass Coles for the first 5 laps but lap 6 saw Colesy make a small mistake and Wayne pounced to get the third place.

14 year old Tim Neave took his second Championship Win in the Junior Class with 4 rides and 4 wins. Oliver Brindley rode well to get second spot and always looked like he could challenge Tim and getting a final podium place was Loris Hunt with 2nd and 3 thirds. Silkolene Junior rider of the day was Aaron Silvester for a good 5th place on an under- powered machine.

MARK RICHARDSON was again on great form to have 4 wins out of 4 but Victor Bull kept Mark honest in the double points race and chased him hard for 6 laps. Third spot went to Shorttrack's Photographer Steve Baldock who rode well to keep the experienced Geoff Bull and Former ICE Champ Mick Trapmore behind him.

Round 1 2010

AIDAN COLLINS GIVES H M PLANT HONDA THEIR FIRST VICTORY AT ROUND 1

The Norfolk Arena hosted Round 1 of the 2010 POZZANI SILKOLENE SHORTTRACK UK CHAMPIONSHIP, which saw Aidan Collins take a start to finish victory on his new 2010 H M Plant Honda CRF 450. Aidan had won his semi and was on pole for the Grand Final, with the winner of the other semi - Glyn Pocklington - next to him on the H4U KTM, CCM's Tom Woolley and Tim Greig on the ASR Honda 450 completed the front row of the grid.
The tapes went up with 12 grand final riders all fighting to get on that blue groove at the first bend. Aidan made no mistakes and hit the front, followed by Pocklington, Woolley, Richard Mason, Marco Belli, Greig, Darren Trapmore, Kevin Doolan, Geoff Baldock, Pete Boast, Derek Brindley and Rusty Hodgson.
The freight train of riders traded places, lap 4 saw Zeata's Marco Belli move up two places into third and Boastie and Brindley were moving up through the field.
Collins was getting away from Pocklington by lap eight but behind him Marco was pulling back the gap to second, 16 year old Woolley was holding onto 4th but had a big frieght train of 8 riders behind him trying to make their move.
Going into the last couple of laps Aidan had 5 bike lengths lead over Glyn "Cowboy" Pocklington and in turn Glyn had the same amount over Marco but the battle behind was intense with Tom still holding off Mason,Trapmore,Greig, Boastie,Brindley and Baldock.
The chequered flag dropped for Aidan giving the first victory in Shorttrack to a works supported Honda in front of his new team Boss Neil Tuxworth, a fine second went to Glyn and the 3 times Champ Italian Marco Belli grabbed the last spot on the rostrum.

WOOLLEY WINS CLOSE REDMAX THUNDERBIKE FINAL

Young Tom Woolley took victory in his first Thunderbike Final which was one of the closet finals ever seen in the Thunderbike class. After the first lap John "Captain Highside"Lee looked to have pulled a good lead but on the next lap he came in too hot and ran wide, letting Rich May, Steve Coles and Tom woolley come past. All 4 traded places for the next 3 laps. By lap 6 May had dropped off the leading bunch, Woolley had taken the lead but Colesy was trying everything to get back by and on lap 7 Lee got back into second. Going into the last lap Woolley had to go flat out just to keep Lee behind and take the victory, with Colesy getting a fine 3rd place.

TIM NEAVE TAKES THE JUNIOR WIN

As the Junior class begins to grow, the standard of racing is improving, none more so than Tim Neave who took victory with three wins including the double points race on Sunday. However, the most entertaining race of the day was heat two, where Oliver Brindley held Tim off for 4 laps. Tim tried everything and even got past at one point but Oliver regained the place and took victory in that one. It was also great day for Loris Hunt who finished up with a fine third place overall.
Tom Schmit was awarded Silkolene Rider of the Day, as after having a big crash in his first race he continued to ride and got two 3rds and 7th.

Mark Richardson looked set for clean sweep going into the double points race, after winning the first three mini bike races of the day. He began the double points race in the lead but then his machine begain to slow with 2 laps to go, come back man Colin Birden passed and took the lead and then Jaye Carpmail also passed him. Mark just held onto third spot from Steve Baldock to give him overall victory as the points from all four heats were totalled.
