Making a Grand Final at an STUK meeting during 2009 will also entitle you to ride in this class. Restricted Shorttrack Class – for riders who have never held a national plate and do not make a grand final at a STUK meeting during 2009, riding Shorttrack or Thunderbike machines. Thunderbike Class – open to riders with Thunderbike machines. Open Quad Class – for quad bikes running to Shorttrack Quad rules. 4 – RACE FORMAT Each rider will have a practice session and a minimum of 3 heat races, with the top 12 riders in the solo classes and top 6 riders in the quad class progressing to the final. 5 - POINTS AWARDED FOR HEAT RACES Place 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th Points 15 12 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 In the case of a tie of points at the end of the heats, the rider with the highest finishing position in the last round of heats will finish higher overall. 6- RACE DISTANCES The duration of races will be as follows :- 6 laps for Heat Races 12 laps for Final – pro national 8 laps for Final – R Plates, Thunder and Quads 7 - TIME PENALTY Any rider not at the start line within 2 minutes of being called will be excluded from the race. 8 - STARTING GRID PLACES Heat Races – riders will each have three heat races (a front, middle and back row start), which will be programmed. Riders in the final will be placed on the grid according to points scored. 9- INFRINGEMENTS If a rider touches the tapes or jumps the start, the referee will place them 25 metres back from the start line. Riders with both wheels across the inner edge (white line) of the track during racing will be excluded from that race, unless in the referees opinion it was to avoid another rider. The referee has the right to exclude a rider from a race who he deems to be riding dangerously, whether a stoppage has been caused or not. 10- RACE STOPPAGE Any competitor who causes a race to be stopped will go to the back of the line-out or be placed 25m.from the back of the grid if a re-start. In the case of a race stoppage if 1 or 2 laps have been completed a re-start will take place. If the number of completed laps is 3 – 4 in a 6 lap race, 3 – 6 in an 8 lap race or 3 – 10 in 12 lap race, there will be a line-out with the remaining laps being run. Riders will start in single-file, in the same order as the last complete lap before the race was stopped. (Referee / Clerk of the Course’s word is final.) If a greater number of laps have been completed the result will be declared. Hot Box Should a race be stopped but not completed, all riders must take their motorcycles to the designated work area (hot box) to make repairs. Any rider returning a bike to the paddock will be disqualified. Work periods will last for 2 minutes from the red flag or light, except for semi’s, last chance and finals when 4 minutes will be allowed. 11- FLAGS AND LIGHT SIGNALS Riders must obey all signals given to them on the track :- Chequered Flag - The finish of the race or practice session. Yellow Flag - Danger on this section of the track, overtaking is forbidden. Red Flag or Red Light - The practice or race is being interrupted. Riders must slow down, go to the hot box and await further instructions from the clerk of the course. 12- DISPLAYING YOUR RIDING NUMBER Your riding number must be displayed on the front board of your machine. You must also display two side number boards, with white background and black numbers. Your riding number should also be clearly visible on the back of your shirt / leathers. 13- MEETING FEES Entry fees if you pre-enter are Ѓ35 or Ѓ45 on the day (although your place can’t be guaranteed if entering late as places are limited). If you wish to ride in two classes, there will be an extra Ѓ15 to pay. 14 – CLUB MEMBERSHIP Shorttrack UK registered riders will receive automatic club membership, free of charge. For non-registered riders there will be a nominal Ѓ15 fee.
