Two of our riders made the long trip to Daytona to compete in the flat track racing, here are the pics and results from their trip.
SAVANNAH'S banked, 1/2 mile clay, fast oval, was the first event on the list. Boastie rode in the 450 Pro Class and managed to get through to the semi's, where he moved up through the field from 11th on the first lap to 4th by the finish, but unfortunately it was only winner who transfered to the main. Chris Carr was on top form in the Twins class and won by a good distance from Kenny Coolbeth who won the Pro Singles Final.
The Amateurs Winter National Event was held at the new Daytona track, with England's Tim Greig riding all 3 days. Tim had some excellent rides, with couple of wins in his class and finishing 3rd in the +30 Class and 4th in the +40 classes overall for the series.
The Velousia County 1/2 mile All Stars Event was run on Monday 1st and it was Jared Mees who was on top of the box with wins in the Twins Final and the Singles.
The Grand National Championship nights were both held at the New Daytona track on 3rd /4th March. Pete had gone to try to qualify for the night event but it went all wrong for our Number 1 when he had big highside in practice and damaged his shoulder and ribs. He tried to ride the next night but the pain was too much and he pulled out after first practice. 77 Pro riders turned up, with only 32 places up for grabs and just two 4 lap sessions to make the cut, there were a lot of disappointed riders. (don't worry - we won't run that format in the uk !)
On the first night Sammy Halbert won his first Singles Championship race and looked like he wouldn't be beaten the next night but it went wrong for Sammy when he crashed at the first corner. That left Jake Johnson, Joe Kopp, Kenny Coolbeth, Henry Wiles, John Lewis and Jared Mees to battle it out. As the laps wound down it was Jake Johnson who had the lead going into the last lap of the 25 lap final and he crossed the line on the back wheel from Kenny Coolbeth and Jared Mees. Just to prove how fast the pace was, Chris Carr finished 2nd from last and nearly got lapped!

UK Riders at Daytona
24/2/10
Tim Greig and Pete Boast fly out to the States tomorrow to race in the Daytona speed week.
Tim is competing in the Winter Amateur National Championship held at the New track at Daytona, over 3 days to be held on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Pete is riding in the Pro Series, with his first meeting on Saturday evening at the 1/2 mile banked oval at Savanah, Georgia, then back down to Daytona for the Pro All stars meeting at Daytona on Tuesday. They will be followed by the two Grand National Championship rounds on the Wednesday and Thursday.
We will keep you up dated how our riders do and also hope that the Shorttrack UK members who are going out to spectate will have a great time and bring us some of that good weather back!
Unfortunately, we now have news that Round 4 of the Shorttrackuk Championship, which was planned to coincide with the SILVERSTONE MOTO GP will not take place this year, but Silverstone have promised to do all they can to make it happen in 2011. Former Shorttracker Lawrence Wiltshire who is the Head of Activities at Silverstone said "Myself and the MD of Silverstone are still very keen to bring Shorttrack to the Moto GP fans. The main problem we've got is that this is first time we've had the Moto GP for a number of years and we are unsure how much room we will need for parking and the area where we had planned to put the track has now been put aside for car parking." Lawrence went on to say, "Once we've run this year's Moto GP we will have lot better idea where we can put an Oval in. We are developing Silverstone all the time and Shorttrack is in our plans."
The good news is that Round 4 will be now replaced and will run at Mildenhall Stadium, Suffolk on Saturday night July 10th. We last raced on the 260 metre oval in 2007 when it was won in magnificent style by our guest rider from the USA, Brandon Robinson. It's a great little stadium with excellent Fish And Chips!
A FREE DAY'S TRAINING FOR JUNIORS

Flattrack Sponsor and Isle of Man's Number one Flattracker Marshall Kinrade is to sponsor a training day, which will be free of charge to any Juniors (15 and under). It will take place on 3rd April at Scunthorpe training track, and will include tuition from UK Champ Peter Boast and 2 times Junior Champ Tom Woolley. Marshall, who already sponsors National Number 20 Darren Trapmore said "I want to help Flattrack to grow and the Junior Class is very important to the sport. I've just bought some junior flattrackers and I'm looking to sponsor a couple of juniors in this season's Championship. I thought that a training day would provide a chance for new riders to give it a go before they race."
The training session is designed for current riders and new riders who have never raced shorttrack. Riders can ride their own bikes or they can ride one of Marshall's machines.
If you wish to take part in the day please ring the Shorttrack office on 01673 878426 to book your place.

Shorttrack at International Off Road Show
Thunderbike Sponsors Redmax and ourselves were at the Telford two day off road show at the weekend.
The interest was non-stop in racing and building Flattrackers , probably due to the fact most twin-shock / pre 75 scramblers are ideal for flattrackin' or ripe for conversion . And these are hardened race boys lookin' for more sport .
We nearly lost our voices talkin to punters non-stop ! Redmax sold a shed load of stuff off the stand and gave out 400 cards and tons of shorttrack fixture lists .

SHORTRACK UPDATE
We are pleased to confirm that the BMF Show have agreed to run Round 2 of the Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack Championship at the Peterborough Showground on May 15th/16th which will include all classes.
Amman Valley 1/2 mile looks almost certain to be a 2 day meeting. We have agreed a deal with Jan- Willem Jansen to run a round of the European Mefo Cup on the Saturday evening, which will be open to all ShorttrackUk riders to enter and there will be support classes for All Amercan Twins ,Mini Bikes and Juniors. The only issue is trying to raise some sponsorship for the cost of running under the floodlights but we hope that can be sorted in the next couple of weeks. The Sunday meeting will be round three of the UK Championship.
Silverstone Moto GP update, is that the plans of the site where the track is going to be have been drawn up and are now waiting approval from the MD of Silverstone. Once they have been approved then we hope to do a test in early April.

wheels 19" front 16" rear.

our insurance has once again increased, we still feel that the entry fees must remain the same as they were in 2009, Shorttrack and Thunderbikes £45, Mini's £40 and Juniors £35 and £15 extra for two classes.
Registration will also remain the same as 2009, £65 for Shorttrack & Thunderbike ( includes a front number board),Mini bike and Juniors £25.
Registration forms will be sent out or e- mailed this weekend. Will any potential new members please contact the shorttrack office (01673 878426) for registion forms. Thankyou.
SHORTTRACK ON SHOW TO OVER 40'000 SPECTATORS

10 national number riders were part of the Live Arena at the Auto sport show at the NEC Birmingham this weekend. The show was run over 4 days with over 40'000 spectators coming in to watch the action. The shorttrack riders rubbed shoulders with Jenson Button, Martin Brundle, Murry Walker and many more stars of the car racing world. The Riders were part of a 55 minute show, with all types motorsport racing, which was repeated throughout the day, often in front of up to 5000 spectators
per show. The track was a concrete surface with a rubber coating, which made for good racing as the riders were able to back it in hard on the brake and hook up pretty good out of the turns, demonstrating what a great sport shorttrack is.

Thanks again to Steve Baldock for the pics.

2010 CHAMPIONSHIP DATES ARE RELEASED
We've tried to hold back from going public with our 2010 dates because we are still waiting for 3 to be confirmed but as we've had many calls this week asking for our dates we've decided to now release them.
The three that have still to be confirm are the BMF show at Peterborough, Silverstone Moto GP and Amman Valley.
The championship starts at our traditional venue of the Norfolk Arena and then on to the BMF show, who are only runnng one event this year at the Peterborough Show ground. We hope to run a two day event this year at our only half- mile track at Amman Valley, as it is quite a long trip for most of our riders. Then the big news is we hope to be racing on the Friday and Saturday evenings of the Moto GP weekend at Silverstone. It has still to be confirmed but Silverstone have offered to put a temporary track in on one of their big car parks and want us to run during the evening so that we can provide entertainment to thousands of fans at the Moto GP.
Then it's up to the peaks and to High Edge Raceway, Buxton, followed in August by the annual TT race at the Norfolk Arena. The ACU National Titles and Round 7 will be held at Rye House Speedway track and the final round of the year will be back at Scunthorpe Raceway after missing the venue from our calendar in 2009. We are pleased to confirm that we will be running the Shorttrack Class, Thunderbikes, Juniors and Mini Bikes at all 8 Rounds of the Championship.

KENNETT THE KING OF BRAINTREE

.
Speedway Star Edward Kennett took the top step on the podium to become the first ever winner of an indoor Shorttrack meeting at the Braintree Bonanza on 27th December. With the Arena full to capacity and the fanastic field of 28 riders all lined up on parade, it was one shorttrack's finest moments so far !
The Heat races can only be described as some of the toughest racing ever seen in the uk with many tough passing monovers being made, riders banging elbows and bouncing off the fence. Ade Collins on the BVS Honda was looking the master of the Towerland's track with three straight wins including passing works CCM rider Tom Woolley in heat 8 on the last lap. Eddy Kennett was also looking good with two wins and a 4th. Just to prove how tough the meeting was, after the heat races we saw Pete Boast, Tim Greig,Geoff Baldock and Victor Bull all eliminated!
Semi 1, Saw the race being stop after a lap when Paul Hurry had a massive high side in turn three, with the crowd giving him a big round applause when he got up and made the restart. Ade Collins made the Hole Shot with Glyn Cowboy Pocklington in second. As the laps wound down riders traded places in the mid pack but Collins was away an Glyn had Derek Brindley on his tail trying every thing to make a move on the out side. It was Collins who took the win from Pocklington and Brindley, both of whom transferd to the final, with Rusty Hodgson 4th having to take the 'last chance' route to the final.
Semi 2, Saw Eddy Kennett lead from start to finish for the win. It was the battle for second where the action was with Marco Belli on his first outing on the new Zaeta and Paul Cooper riding the FT Experience 450 CCM. Cooper Man held off Marco for 4 laps but the 3 times UK Champ made his move and took second spot from Cooper who held on to take his transfer spot to the final.
The Last Chance race was a 6 lap dash with 8 riders and only two places left for the final. It was Dynomax rider Rusty Hodgeson who took the win, with a fantastic ride from road racer Gary Johnson taking second place and just missing out on the final in third was TT superstar Steve Plater.
The Grand Final was 12 laps of mayhem! Collins was on pole, next to him Kennett and completing front row Glyn Pocklington. From the lights Kennett made a electric start with Pocklington trying to pass him on the outside. Lap 1 it was Kennett, Pocklington, Collins and Belli. On lap 3, Collins wheelied out of turn four, landed on the side of Pocklington and some how passed him and Marco Belli was coming under pressure from Paul Cooper. By lap 7 Collins looked like he was closing the gap on Kennett but by lap 10 Kennett had pulled away from him. Glyn was now getting some pressure from Marco Belli and Cooper but the England Speedway star had it all under control and took his first Shorttrack Grand final win from Collins and Pocklington.

SHORTTRACK in the press again
Journalist Chris Moss who has become a regular spectator at Shorttrack meetings, has written a great 5 page feature on Shorttrack in this month's Motorcycle Sport and Leisure. The ACU's latest Sportmoto Magazine has almost a page on the forthcoming Braintree indoor meeting. Also MCN has a great pic of Marco at the BMF in it this week and of course our press officee Derek Barclay has been doing a great job leading up to the indoor meeting with articles in the Speedway Star!
More indoor action for shorttrack
Shorttrack riders will be rubbing shoulders with Formula 1 and World Rally Car drivers at the Auto Sport International show at the NEC Arena Birmingham on 14th to 17th Jan 2010. Every year thousands of fans go to watch the live arena which is part of the Auto sport Show, where different motor sports get the chance to run demo races, including WEC Rally Cars, F1 Stockcars, they even run a F1 car and now for 2010 Shorttrack! Ten riders have been chosen to run demo races as part of the show. It will be a great opportunity to show our sport to some new motor sport fans and to get our sponsors some great coverage. For more info go to the auto sport website. http://www.autosport-international.com/
The 2010 season will kick off at the traditional Venue of the Norfolk Arena on Sunday April 11th, the full Championship dates should be completed in the next couple of weeks,so please keep checking the site.
Some sad news for shorttrack is that national number #8 Jon Bell has announced his retirment from the sport due to the down turn in his buisness. Jon, who has been racing Shorttrack from the very start in 2005, has always been a great competitor, especially on blue grooved tracks. He had some great races including wins at Flattrack Fridays pro class. We at shorttrack thank him for his support over the years, wish him well and hope see him again on the dirt.
Jon has got his Hybred KTM for sale, Check the 'For sales' page out for the full spec.

CAN YOU KEEP QUIET !
After 2 complaints from track owners and a letter from the ACU warning us that they had reports that some Shorttrack machines are over noise limit, we will be doing noise testing on all machines in 2010.
The decible reading for all machines (including Juniors and Mini Bikes) is 98 dBA at 2 metres.
The Gallery page has just been updated with a history of the Shorttrack Championship.
BRAINTREE BONANZA ON TV
The Sky TV Extreme channel programme Blood Sweat and Gears will be filming the full meeting at Braintree and it will be shown early in the new year. This will be another first for Shorttrack in the UK, until now we have not had any TV coverage and this will be a big step forward for the sport.
Chris Carr's KTM coming to England !
Sam Hornsey from Bucknell,Shropshire phoned the Shorttrack office to inform us that he just bought one of Chris's Hybred KTM's which should be shipped out to the UK by January. Sam who is still only 15 has been competing in the British 125 Road Race Championship with much success. He turns 16 in February and hopes to compete in the British 125 GP Championship and the Shorttrack UK Championship in 2010.
Brandon on the Mend
Two years a go a young 16 year old kid came over from the States with his mum and dad and raced in the last two rounds of the our UK Championship and won both in style!
Last year Brandon won his National Number at Daytona and also won the pro Experts Twins Class and was rookie of the year. But this season saw Brandon have a massive crash in the Grand Final at Indy when 4 riders came together on the first bend. Brandon broke his pelvis in three spots, fractured his hip bone in five places which splintered into many more, and broke a hip socket. It took two surgeries, twenty screws, three plates, and 120 some staples to put him back together. We got a news from Brandon other day that he is finally able to walk now after 4 months but the doctor has informed him he still has another 6 months before he will be healed. However, Brandon is not deterred and is already planning next season's shedule. We at Shorttrack wish him speedy recovery.

JOHN KOCINSKI BACK RACING FLATTRACK.
Most people might not have even noticed the bright red leathers or even the immaculately prepared Rotax dirt tracker. And since he was pitted like everyone else under an awning in the relatively dark infield of the Pomona Fairplex' 5/8ths mile dirt track, he pretty much blended in as just another old guy out for a bit of fun in Gene Romero's West Coast Flat Track Series.
But for those who knew him or of him, there was no mistaking John Kocinski. Even at the age of 40, he didn't look any different than the 32-year-old who last raced a Vance & Hines Ducati in the AMA Superbike Series in 2000. And not much different than the youngster who won a 250cc World Championship in 1990 and the World Superbike Championship in 1997.
"When I called the leathers company and told them I needed a suit, they asked me what size," Kocinski said with a smile from his pit on Saturday night in Pomona. "I told them to make ‘em the same size as I wore before. They said, ‘You sure?' "
The highlight for Kocinski on Saturday night in Southern California was a victory over up-and-coming dirt tracker turned road racer J.D. Beach in the eight lap semi-final of the K&N Open class - with Kocinski holding the kid off to take the win and advance to the main event. In the main, Kocinski finished 11th on his Bondio Fabrication-backed Rotax (arguably the trickest bike in the paddock), but this wasn't in a field of slackers. The winner was Harley-mounted Henry Wiles - the man who a few minutes earlier came away with the win in the AMA Grand National Twins final.

CHRIS CARR CONQUERS RYE HOUSE........BOAST TAKES THE UK TITLE...............
....
7 times Grand National Champ CHRIS CARR won the final round of the Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack UK Championship at Rye House Speedway Stadium on Sunday. Chris said the standard of riders had gone up a league after having to work hard to win his heat, as Ade Collins riding the Buckingham Van Sales Honda lead Chris for 6 of the 8 laps.
Semi 1 saw Pete Boast on the works Suzuki and Marco Belli on a works CCM hit the front with Chris in third spot. For the first three laps they traded places but Carr moved up front and began to gap Boast and Belli. The race was stopped on lap 6 when Richard Mason and his bike went through the mesh fence and landed on the dog track! After a short delay Richard was able to take his place in the line out. Chris took the win from Boast, Belli and Justin Hargate on the Helmets4U Honda, with first time finalist Steve Coles Honda in 5th.
Semi 2 was a great display from Tom Woolley on the works CCM with a start to finish win, 2nd was Ade Collins still keeping his chances of the UK title alive, 3rd Glyn Cowboy Pocklington on a Helmets4U Honda, 4th Daz Trapmore on the Kindrade Honda and final transfer spot went to Jon Bell on a 525 KTM.
In the Last chance the win went to Italian Jacobo Monti on the 600 Woods Rotax with Rusty Hodgeson racing the Dynomax CCM taking the last spot for the Grand Final.
For the 12 lap Grand Final around the perfect condition, banked Rye House Track, the front row line up was Boast, Woolley,Carr and Collins with the other 8 finalist conpleting the grid. As the tapes went up it was Ade Collins who hole shotted, with Carr, Boast, Pocklington, Woolley and Marco Belli rounding up the top six. Collins and Carr were side by side for two laps with Boast waiting for any mistake by the 2 front runners and 15 year old Tom Woolley moved into 4th spot. On lap 3 Chris Carr took the lead on the HM Plant Honda, Boast was pressing Collins and Marco Belli had now moved into 5th spot. On lap 6 Jacopo Monti went down on turn 1 but did great job of getting his bike off the track so the race continued. Lap 7 sawTom Woolley hit the back of Boast going into turn 3, somehow they both stayed on but Tom dropped behind his team mate Marco. By lap 10 Chris was pulling away from the field, Collins, Boast, Belli and Tom Woolley stayed a close packed bunch. On the last lap Chris had a six bike length lead plenty of time to pull a wheellie as he crossed the line, Collins took a fine 2nd but Boast took 3rd place giving him the 2009 Pozzani Silkolene ShorttrackUK Championship and the number 1 plate for 2010,Tom Woolley pulled great move off to beat his team mate Marco to 4th spot.

BOASTIE BAGS ACU NATIONAL TITLE
.
Peter Boast came away with his second ACU National Title and a 14 point lead in the Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack Championship on Sunday at the well attend BMF Show at Peterborough. Heat races were run on the Saturday and the top 24 riders progressed to Sunday's Semi finals.
Semi 1 saw Championship points leader Ade Collins on the BVS Honda on pole after an unbeaten run in the heat races. On the first lap Adain's bike stopped down the back straight while he was second to young Tom Woolley on the Works CCM Machine. Tom lead from start to finish with Boastie in a safe second and good ride from Revin Kevin Armstrong to take third.
Semi 2 was action from the word go with Richard Magic Mason crashing in front of the pack on the first bend and STUK's number 1 plate holder Marco Belli hitting the fence on the way out of the corner. After the melee it was local hero Victor Bull who took the lead, with a young, charging Ben Baker close behind on his new 450 Honda. On lap 6 Ben made a fantastic move around Victor and romped home to a victory with Bull 2nd, Rusty Hodgeson 3rd, Marco managed to get up to 4th spot and last transfer to the final went to Justin Hargate.
In the last chance race Magic Mason made no mistake this time and won, Captain Highside John Lee was 2nd, just taking last transfer spot from David Haith and Ade Collins.
For the Grand Final, the former Junior riders Tom Woolley and Ben Baker had the first pick of the gate positions, Tom took 2 and Ben 3, with Boastie on 1 and Victor Bull on 4 to complete the front row, the remaining 8 riders took the next two rows.
As the tapes went up Tom Woolley stalled his CCM o the line, amazingly the rest of the pack missed him and it was Boastie who hole shotted the field. On the first lap it was Boast, Baker, Bull, Hodgeson, Belli, Daz Trapmore, Armstrong and Mason to round top 8. By lap 4 Boast and Baker began to pull away from the field and the battle for 3rd was on with Vic Bull, Rusty Hodgson, Belli, Mason and Justin Hargate all swapping places.
By lap 8 Ben was on Boastie's tail just waiting to pounce ,Bull was still just holding onto 3rd, with Mason and Hogson trying everything to get past. Lap 10 saw Boast and Baker well clear of the pack, with the crowd focused on the 3rd place dice with Mason banging elbows with Bull and Rusty Hodgson pressing both of them hard. On the last lap Boast was still under pressure from Baker who couldn't quite pass him by the chequered flag and Boastie took the honours, while Victor Bull did well to hold onto 3rd spot from Magic Mason and Rusty Hodgson.

American flat track in Belgium!
Round 5 of the International Mefo Sport Flattrack Cup was hosted by the Belgian Speedway fan club in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium, making it the first ever flattrack race in Europe’s capital country. The beautiful and well packed Helzold stadium welcomed new comers Piet-Gosse Hoekstra from Fryslan, Andreas Perr and Helly Kaltenhauser from Bavaria in addition to the regular rider field from England, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The qualifying races immediately produced close battles, with sixth place being fought for just as hard as first. The crowd was treated to a barrage of passing maneuvers, as riders were gaining and losing positions every lap. Unfortunately Mick Jansen and championship leader - hot shot - Steven Hall were forced to retire after making contact with the wall. Also the paddocks were well visited by the fans curious to see the beautiful big wheeled flat track motorcycles, some of them home built. The grid girls welcomed the best riders to the all deciding, twelve lap grand final with J.W. Jansen, Boast, Baldock and Mulder on the front row, ready to decide the day. England’s Peter Boast took the hole shot, with Swiss resident Jan-Willem Jansen right on his tail, they immediately opened up a little gap from the battle for third position. With Boast keeping the door shut, and Jansen looking, trying, poking left and right. It wasn’t until the second to last lap that Jansen found an opening while they were lapping other riders, to take first position and receive the checkered flag from Europe’s coolest flag Marshall Benny Kupers. Right behind them it was Dutchman Halbe Scheper who made his way through the field with a flawless race to claim his second podium of the season. Heusden-Zolder proved once again that flat track racing is an excellent spectator sport, keep checking the website for a race near you!

WINNER ADE COLLINS............................AUSSIE STAR DARCY WARD..................COWBOY GLYN POCKLINGTON
Collins Conquers the TT at Norfolk Arena
Round 6 of the Pozzani Silkolene shorttrackUK Championship brought thrills and spills at the only TT event in England on Sunday.
Tim Greig riding the ASR Honda won the first Semi in convincing style from Aussie speedway star Darcy Ward claiming a fromt row start for the Final. The second semi was a great battle between Richard Mason, Ade Collins and Pete Boast, they traded places for most of the race but it was Boast who came out on top from Collins. Mason hit his hand on a marker and knocked his cut out off so had to go to the Last Chance to get through to the final.
The Grand Final was always going to be a battle to see who came out of the first tight hair pin bend where many riders had come to grief during the day. It was Ade Collins who emmerged first from the bend, with
Greig second, Boast third and Richard May on the CCM 4th. Lap 4 saw Boast make a hard move on Greig to take 2nd spot while further down the field Mason was moving up from 10th to 7th place. On lap 8 Mason moved past Darcey Ward and Rich May to take up 4th spot, while in front Boastie tried a pass on Collins but ended up wide and dropped a couple of bike lenths, then Magic Mason moved past Greig on the outside of turn 2. By the final lap Boast was on the back of Collins again and Mason was chasing Boast, David Haith moved into 5th spot but by the chequered flag it was Ade Collins who took his third Grand Final win of the season, giving him 4 point lead from Boast in the Championship, with Richard Mason having a great ride to come from the back to get third spot.

AIDAN COLLINS BLASTS BUXTON IN STYLE
Ade Collins dominated round 4 of the Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack UK Championship which took place at Hi Edge Raceway, Buxton. Ade was unbeaten in all his races and he also took top honours in the Dash for Cash race.
With over night rain the track conditions were a little tricky to start with for the heat races but by time it came to the Semi's the track had turned into a hard dusty track. This didn't change Aidan's winning ways as he took the first semi by half the straight away from second placed Richard 'magic' Mason, who had the battle holding off Justin Hargate for 3rd. The second Semi was won by Pete Boast after restart following a first bend crash with other 3 riders, second spot went to' Cowboy' Glyn Pocklington and Geoff Baldock came though the field to take 3rd spot.
As the riders took their places for the 12 lap Grand Final, it was the on form Collins who got the hole shot from Magic Mason, Boast, Baldock, Pocklington and Hargate. On lap 3 Boastie made a move past Mason and by lap 6 Ade Collins was pulling away from the field. Mason was trying to get past Boast again and Geoff Baldock had Helmets4u Team riders Pocklington and Hargate snapping at his heels. On lap 9 Pocklington got past Baldock and on lap 10 Geoff was relegated to 6th as Hargate passed going into the last lap.
Collins had a safe lead but Boastie was still having to ride hard to keeping Magic Mason from passing him. As the chequred flag came out for Aiden for his second Grand Final win this season, Boast held on to second from Mason, 4th Glyn Pocklington, 5th Justin Hargate and Tim Greig just slipping by Geoff Baldock on the last lap to take 6th.

MARCO WINS IN Marianske Lazne (CZ)......AND STEVE HALL TAKES Heidenreichstein (A) WIN
Rounds 2 and 3 of the Mefo International Flattrack Cup took place at the weekend and for Marco Belli it was mixed fortunes. Marco won on Saturday in Marianski Lazne on the 1000 metre track riding a borrowed xr1000 Harley Davidson but his fortunes turned on Sunday when dicing mid pack in the Final at Heidenreichstein, when he was involved in a crash with Glyn Pocklington and broke his collar bone and four ribs ouch! Get well soon Marco.
All the Brits did well,Steve Hall was on podium in both meetings with 3rd (CZ) and a great win leading from the front from start to finish to take the honours at the Austrain meeting. Boastie got 4th in (CZ) and was 2nd to Steve in Austria, Glyn finished 7th and 5th after picking him self up after the big crash with Marco and starting at the back of the line out. Anthony Brown rode well and made the finals at both meetings, while Steve Hillary had problems with the big Harley on Saturday but sorted it out for Austria and also made the final. MASTER OF THEM HALL

STEVE HALL became the first winner of the Masters of Flattrack and the 3rd different winner (in as many rounds) of the 2009 Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack Championship. There was 24 hours of rain leading up to the meeting, but the fantastic 1/2 mile Amman Valley trotting track coped well and drained to produce some exciting racing as the meeting went on.
The
Shorttrack Semi 1 was a battle up front with Pete Boast , Steve Hall and Tom Woolley riding his new works CCM machine. Hall got the result from Boast and Woolley. The second Semi saw early leader Richard Magic Mason crash out on lap 3 to hand the lead to Marco belli who went on to win ahead of Ben Wells and Rusty Hodgson.
The Grand Final was an exhausting 12 laps around the 1/2 mile wide open oval. It was Works CCM rider Belli who lead the race from the first bend with Steve Hall chasing him. On lap 3 Hall pulled a great move coming out turn 2 to to take the lead from Belli, while 3 bike lengths back there was 4 way dice for 3rd spot with two Suzuki mounted riders Ben Wells and Pete Boast and 2 Honda mounted riders of Ade Collins and Tim Greig. As the laps counted down Hall began to pull away from Belli, as he in turn pulled away from the 3rd place battle. Also coming up through the field was 15 year old Tom Woolley who moved into 7th place from 10th on the first lap.
With two laps to go it was lining up to a grandstand finish with Marco pulling back up to Steve Hall and in the battle for 3rd Wells, Boast, Colins and Greig were all trading places and begining to pull in the leaders. Steve Hall made no mistakes and received the Chequered Flag in first, with Belli 2nd and Boastie just nicking 3rd on the last corner from Ade Colins, Ben Wells and Tim Greig.
Marco extends his Championship lead and has 48 points, Boast 40, Collins 36, Greig 36 and Hall 33.

MAGIC MASON
Rookie Richard Mason pulled off a shock result in Round 2 of the Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack Grand Final, in his second Championship round winning by a full straightaway from reigning Champion Marco Belli. Richard who finished second to Pete Boast in his Semi was on the front row for the Grand Final in a Itailan sandwich with Marco Belli one side and Jacobo Monti on the other side. It was Belli who hole shotted and lead the first lap but starting second lap Mason made a move coming into turn one and took the lead from Belli. Pete Boast held third spot with Tim Greig on his tail and lap 4 saw first round winner Ade Collins slide off his BVS Honda while in 5th spot. By lap 6 Mason began to pull away from Belli who seemed to be struggling with the set up on the works CCM, Boastie was trying everything to get past Marco and Greig was on Boastie's back mudgard, a bit further down the field the battle for 5th spot was with Steve Hall putting pressure on Jacobo Monti and Ben Wells and Glyn Pocklington swapping places in the 4 way dice.
As the laps counted down Mason just kept pulling a larger lead, Marco was under massive pressure from Boast and Greig, Steve Hall moved into 5th spot and Monti got passed by Pocklington and Wells. By the time it come to the chequered flag Richard Mason took a very impressive win with the Champions of Shorttrack title, Marco hung on to second spot and Boast took the last spot on the podium.

HAIL ADE
..
Ade Collins won Round 1 of the Pozzani Silkolene ShorttrackUK Championship 2009. Ade was on top form riding the Buckingham Van Sales Honda, he won his opening heat race and his Semi Final to take pole for the Grand Final. Marco Belli riding the factory CCM won the other Semi Final from a hard charging Andrew Moore on the woods Rotax.
Ade hole shotted the 12 lap grand final from Belli, Moore and Pete Boast and by lap 2 he started to pull away from Marco who had Andrew Moore trying every thing to pass him. On lap 4 Moorey just missed Belli's back wheel by inches and ran off the grove dropping back to 8th place. Tim Greig on the ASR Honda took advantage and moved past Boast to take up third spot. On lap 6 Geoff Baldock went down mid pack with Justin Hargate on the Helmets4u Honda having to lay his bike down to miss him and the race was stopped.
The restart was in the form of a line out and once again Collins got the start from Belli ,Greig , Boast and Glyn Pocklington in 5th spot. Collins edged a lead out in the next 4 laps, Greig and Boast were pressuring Belli but by the Final lap Ade Collins took a great win with Marco holding to second and Tim Greig taking third spot.

Alan Hooker holds Number one plate again !
12 of some of the best Quad riders gave the spectators some of the best action of the day with some fantastic close racing and a few incidents in the heat races. The B final was declared to Paul Munnery after the race was stopped due to a crash involving Chris Wright , who we are pleased to say was ok after a ride in the ambulance. The final was a great battle up front between Alan and Charlie Welbourne, with Alan riding the two stroke and Charlie the big 520 four stroke. MARCO BELLI STARTS 2009 SEASON WITH HIS WINNING WAYS
Round 1 of the 2009 Mefo International Flattrack Cup took place on Sunday in Neuenkick,Germany and it was Marco Belli, the 2008 Champ who took the honours with a fine win in the Grand Final. Marco, who won 2 of his three heat races, grabbed pole for the final. Next to him was Steve Hall who was the only rider to beat Belli in his heat races, next to Steve was the flying Dutch man Wiemer Borger.
Marco made the hole shot with Hall and Borger dicing for second spot, with three laps gone Marco extended his lead, with Steve second, Pete Boast moved into third and Jan- Willem Janson into 4th. With8 laps gone Belli had 4 bikes length lead with Boast battling hard with Hall for second spot, Tim Greig had moved into 5th spot and was closing on Jan- Willem. With one lap to go Steve Hall had closed back up to Marco but it was too late to make a move and Marco wheelied across the the line to take the Win ! The British lads did well with Steve 2nd , Pete 3rd and Tim 5th. It just shows that the fastest Flattrackers in Europe race in the UK Championship.

Boast takes first victory of 2009
Wrekin Grasstrack Club put a programmed 58 race meeting on at a Sunny Stoke Speedway Stadium, which saw the first action of the year for Shorttrack riders. The 12 rider field produced 5 fantastic heats of racing, which could only be described as some of the closet races of the day, the top 8 riders swopping places in every race.
Race 1 was won by Tim Greig by half bike from Victor Bull after Geoff Baldock lead the race for 5 laps of the 6
Race 2 went to Victor Bull riding his new KTM for the first time with Tim second and Geoff Bull Third
Race 3 saw young Tom Woolley take his adult class victory on a F.T.E CCM, from Glyn Pocklington and Pete Boast
Race 4 Boastie won with a great second spot for Geoff Bull and also great ride for 3rd place from Richard May
Race 5 came down to the last corner with Tom Woolley leading but he just made a bobble and ran wide on the exit of the corner, handing victory to Boast with Pocklington third.
Boastie just took the victory on points from Victor Bull, with Tim Greig getting the last spot on the Podium.
It was a great advert for Shorttrack racing and with the Sun Shining at Stoke! it looks like it could be great 2009 season.

ShorttrackUK are pleased to announce that for 2009 Silkolene will again be supporting the ShorttrackUK Championship along with new sponsors Pozzani water filters.
Silkolene have supported the Shorttrack series from it's very humble beginings back in 2005 and we at Shorttrack are very proud to have a company on board that is recognised for making excellent products for the motocycle industry, which many of the competitors use themselves.
Fuchs-Silkolene has one of the most comprehensive ranges of high performance motorcycle and motorsport lubricants, developed on the race track to ensure ultimate performance and protection.
Shorttrack would like to thank Pete Dalton, Graham Temple and Richard Barrett from Silkolene for making this possible in these difficult times and we look forward to working with them while enjoying their support for our championship.
